Little Dude is growing and developing at such a fast pace. He’s been home just a week over three months. In that time he has gone from fitting comfortably in 0-3 months clothes to fitting comfortably in 6-9 month stuff. He has chubby little cheeks and meaty little legs. His hair is growing in pretty well, and he’s getting a new hairline.
The last month, though, has been amazing. Five weeks ago, after his first physical therapy session, he figured out how to push himself up to sit. This was a HUGE accomplishment. Up until that point he would give up on things very quickly. As a parent that made me sad. I hated to see him give up. He just didn’t have the motivation, and didn’t seem to think he had the strength. When he did that a few times, though, he seemed to realize that he could do more than he thought he could.
Soon after that he learned how to army crawl and started using a cup. He started making indications that he wanted to stand. He would pull, pull, PULL himself up to his feet with our help. It was an arduous, ungraceful, grunt-filled process.
Within the last two weeks we have seen the most progress. He figured out how to pull himself up to his feet (2 Saturdays ago). He started finger feeding (9 days ago). He learned to crawl on his hands and knees (4 days ago). He started cruising along the couch (2 days ago). He learned how to “walk” from the couch to the coffee table, which are about 18 inches apart (yesterday). He figured out one of his shape sorter things, and the ring stacker (today).
